Jyotish and Yagya

Maharishi Jyotish—Vedic Astrology—is a precious discipline of Maharishi’s Vedic Science. It has been applied from time immemorial to foresee and avert difficulties and dangers in life, and to ensure rapid evolution and life in fulfilment.

Maharishi Jyotish is a highly mathematical science, containing the knowledge of the cycles of time that bring about all transformations. Maharishi Jyotish can bring to light the total understanding of any future trend or event, and identify any specific period that may need attention in order to ensure progress and evolution in accord with Natural Law. In conjunction with the Maharishi Yagya Programme, Maharishi Jyotish provides the science and technology for minimizing problems and averting dangers, while enhancing success and fulfilment in every area of life.

Birth Horoscope—Janma Kundali

At the time of a Jyotish consultation, a Jyotishi (an expert in Maharishi Jyotish) will construct a birth horoscope—Janma Kundali—using a few specific items of information such as the time, date, and place of birth. To create the birth chart, the Jyotishi uses a highly sophisticated computer programme. From the birth chart he can analyse the relationships between the nine planets, or Grahas, the twelve Rashis, or signs of the zodiac, and the twelve Bhavas, or houses, of the birth chart. On the basis of this analysis, the Jyotishi can predict the effect of one’s past actions on health, wealth, professional success, marriage, spiritual progress, etc., and also analyse future trends and tendencies, evaluating the favourable and unfavourable influences during any time period. The Jyotishi is then able to recommend Maharishi Yagya performances, which will enhance the favourable influences in one's life and counteract those influences that are unfavourable, in order to promote success and good fortune.

Maharishi Yagyas are Vedic Performances that integrate individual life with Cosmic Life to promote spiritual progress, perfect health, support of Nature, happiness, the fulfilment of desires, freedom from obstacles, peace of mind, good fortune, and success in all areas of life. In Vedic Civilizations, Yagyas were part of the regular routine of individual and public life. They are mentioned often in the Vedic Texts, which describe their beneficial effects. The Vishnu Purana, for example, explains that: ‘Performance of Yagyas day by day is beneficial to man and bestows peace’ (1.6.28). In bringing to light the Vedic Knowledge, Maharishi has fully enlivened the application and correct performance of this essential technology.

Avert The Danger That Has Not Yet Come

In our own lives we often find ourselves confronted by unforeseen and unwanted trends and events. Maharishi Yagyas are designed to eliminate dangers and tendencies before they arise, as well as to maximize positive influences for the fulfilment of specific goals and desires in life. The Yog-Sutra, one of the 40 branches of the Vedic Literature, states: Heyam duhkham anagatam, ‘Avert the danger that has not yet come,’ which beautifully illustrates one of the important values of the Maharishi Jyotish and Maharishi Yagya Programmes.

In his Science of Being and Art of Living, Maharishi describes how the activity of any individual influences every other aspect of the universe:

If a stone is thrown into a pond, waves are produced that travel throughout the pond. Every wave produces effects in every part of the pond, resulting in some influence or other. Similarly, the wave of individual life through its activity produces an influence in all fields of the cosmos. (p. 69)

As we influence every part of the cosmos with every action, every action creates an influence that returns to us, just as the waves, upon reaching the shore, inevitably turn back and return to their place of origin. Maharishi Jyotish is the science and technology that is able to calculate and then predict the type of influence created by our past actions, which will return to us at a particular time and place. If the influence is not favourable, then the Jyotishi will prescribe Maharishi Yagyas to counteract the unfavourable influence of the previous actions. If the influence is favourable, then the Yagya recommendations will be to enhance our good fortune. This is the whole secret of Maharishi Jyotish and Maharishi Yagyas—to know the influence of the trends that are going to come in our lives, and to know how to generate the appropriate life-supporting influences that will either counteract or enhance these trends.

Both the Jyotish predictions as well as the recommendations for Maharishi Yagyas can be made for individuals as well as for families, companies, states, provinces, and nations, so that unwanted developments can be averted, and favourable opportunities can be enhanced.
